In the petrochemical industry, titanium heat exchanger, condenser and related auxiliary equipment have been successfully used for over 20 years. Pure titanium Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-0.8Ni-0.3Mo are most commonly used in titanium materials. There are many products and complicated process in petroleum and chemical industry.  Now we introduce the application example of titanium:
1.  In the oil refining contained high sulfur and salt, titanium equipment is very ideal. The atmospheric distillation unit, sewage treatment equipment, desulphurization separation tower condenser and stripper radiator and many other processes are successfully applying titanium equipment for many years in abroad. China has also  adopt  titanium  casting sea water pump, fluid catalytic cracking in titanium condenser, condenser cryogenic separation of titanium and porous titanium plate, and our country  already have the normal operation for more than ten years.
2.  Chlorinated hydrocarbon is one of the largest cultivated varieties of petrochemical industry. Due to the chlorination reaction, stainless steel equipment can't be competent for it. Overseas has used titanium to manufacture ethylene chloride distillation methyl chloroform heat exchanger, a condensing tower and the fractionating tower condensing tower, trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene heat exchanger and polychlorinated coil heaters etc. Our country adopts Ti-0.2Pd lining in production of vinyl chloride, cooling tower, water stripper and wastewater tank tray supporting frame, pipe, flange sealing surface, and we didn't find any corrosion for nearly ten years. In addition, titanium pipe, joints and gas distributor have been made of titanium material for many years.
3.  Phenol is an important raw material in petrochemical industry. It is a new   technology to take the propylene in refinery gas and benzene as raw materials, getting the phenol and acetone from cumene, dicumyl peroxide. Titanium equipment was adopted ten years ago, but China is still in the development of this technology. The production of phenol by benzene sulfonation alkali solution in old technology, China has adopted the agitator shaft sleeve titanium neutralization reaction kettle, titanium coil pipe cooler and ion nitriding of titanium and the effect is very good.
